The BISON Security Program is Howard’s enterprise cybersecurity program dedicated to protecting the University’s people, information, research, and technology resources, while fostering a culture of security awareness across our community.
As part of our commitment to strengthening Howard’s cybersecurity posture, we are focused on increasing participation in the University’s required cybersecurity awareness training. Currently, about 22% of faculty and staff complete this annual training, creating an important opportunity to strengthen collective resilience against evolving cyber threats.
Cybersecurity training is more than a compliance requirement. Faculty and staff play a critical role in protecting the University from phishing attacks, credential theft, social engineering, ransomware, and other cybersecurity risks. Completing the training helps individuals recognize potential threats, respond appropriately, and safeguard the systems and information that support our academic, research, healthcare, and administrative missions.
The success of the BISON Security Program depends on active participation from every member of our community. We encourage leaders across schools, colleges, divisions, and departments to share this message and support faculty and staff in completing the required training as soon as possible.
Protecting Howard is a shared responsibility. By completing this training and staying vigilant, each of us contributes to a safer, more resilient institution.
