Return and Recovery of University Technology Assets
As part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen technology security, protect university data, and maintain an accurate inventory of technology assets, Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) is requesting the return of any university-owned endpoint devices that are no longer being used.
Unused or unaccounted technology introduces avoidable security risks, especially when devices are no longer managed, monitored, or receiving essential updates. Returning these items enables ETS to properly secure, inventory, maintain, reassign when appropriate, or safely retire and dispose of devices in alignment with university standards.
This effort also benefits the Howard community by helping us make the best use of our existing technology investments, support responsible lifecycle planning, and reduce unnecessary technology purchases.
Devices that should be returned include, but are not limited to:
- Laptops and desktop computers
- Devices that are still operating Windows 10
- Lenovo laptops
- Monitors
- Tablets
- Docking stations
- Other university-owned IT equipment no longer assigned to an active user or needed within your department
Please bring your unused devices to the Bunche Center for collection, Mon-Fri, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
If you have questions regarding this initiative, please contact the Service Desk at huhelpdesk@howard.edu for assistance. Thank you for your commitment to protecting Howard’s technology environment, safeguarding University information, and ensuring our technology resources are managed responsibly.
