Working within the Bison Apps environment

What is Bison Apps?

Bison Apps is a virtual desktop that provides HU faculty and students remote access to Howard University’s most frequently used applications. Bison Apps' interface resembles everything you would see logging into an iLab computer. The following applications will be available for use: Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Creative Cloud (all of the subsidiary Adobe CC applications, Mathematica, Final Draft, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Teams, SAS, and SPSS.

Once you log in, you will need to enter your Howard credentials for each application the first time you use it. After that, you will remain logged into each application each time you’re within the Bison Apps environment.

Being Productive and Accessing Data & Files Remotely

Microsoft OneDrive:
 

Microsoft One Drive will also be available in Bison Apps. This will be a secure, online location for all your Howard University documents/files. If you want to save documents for use after logging out of Bison Apps, please save them to your One Drive. When you first log in, you will be prompted to enter your Howard credentials for One Drive access. Your One Drive folder can always be located by pressing the Windows button, and it’ll be on the right side-panel towards the bottom. Printing:

You will not be able to print within Bison Apps. In order to print documents, you will have to save your documents to your One Drive within Bison Apps, then print it from your One Drive on your laptop/desktop.

Why isn’t my login and password working?

You may need to reset your password. Please use the following link to reset your password https://passwordreset.howard.edu/. If you are not registered for password reset, please register here first https://aka.ms/ssprsetup then proceed to reset your password via the first link.

How can I print within Bison Apps?

You will need to save your documents to your One Drive within the Bison Apps environment. Then you will need to access and print that document from your One Drive that is on your personal computer (outside of the Bison App environment). Note that you will need to have One Drive mapped to your personal computer.

If I log out of Citrix, will any of my work/documents be saved?

Your work can only be saved if you save it to your One Drive.

Why am I getting an error message on howardu.cloud.com?

This error is appearing because your browser has pop-up blockers enabled. Please disable the pop-up blockers.

How can I access the Adobe Creative Cloud applications?

All Adobe Creative Cloud applications are accessible and visible once you press the Windows button in the bottom left corner of the Bison Apps screen.
