Automated Inactive Account Management

Dear Howard University Community,

We want to inform you about an important security enhancement in our authentication process. As part of our ongoing commitment to safeguarding your accounts and ensuring the security of our digital environment, we are implementing an automatic process to deactivate inactive user accounts that have not been accessed for more than 120 days.

What's New?

The latest update includes an automatic process that will deactivate accounts inactive for over 120 days. This proactive measure is designed to enhance the security of our digital environment by preventing unauthorized access to dormant accounts.

Key Features of the Automatic Account Deactivation

  1. Inactive Account Management: The system will automatically identify and deactivate user accounts that have not been accessed for more than 120 days.
  2. Enhanced Security: This feature aims to minimize the risk of unauthorized access to dormant accounts, bolstering the overall security of our digital environment.

How Does It Work?

If your account has been inactive for more than 120 days, the automatic process will deactivate it to mitigate potential security risks. To reactivate your account, please contact the HU Help Desk at huhelpdesk@howard.edu

Your Action

If your account is active and regularly accessed, no action is required on your part. This enhancement is a behind-the-scenes measure to ensure the ongoing security of our digital environment.

We understand the importance of maintaining a secure digital environment, and this enhancement is part of our continuous efforts to uphold the highest cybersecurity standards. Howard University expects its email users to adhere to its standards regarding privacy, security, and appropriate use of University resources.
