Windows 10 Support Ending, Upgrade to Windows 11

Dear Howard University Community,

Microsoft will officially end support for Windows 10 on Oct. 14, 2025. After this date, Windows 10 devices will no longer receive security updates, leaving them vulnerable to security threats.

To safeguard our network and data, Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) will no longer support computers running Windows 10 after this deadline. We will begin upgrades in advance and complete them well before Oct. 14 to ensure a smooth transition.

Why This Matters

  • Windows 10 will become a security risk without updates.
  • Windows 11 offers improved security, performance, and reliability.

What to Expect

  • ETS will schedule and perform all upgrades to Windows 11 before Oct. 14, 2025.
  • Your device may restart automatically during the upgrade process.
  • Please save your work daily to avoid losing progress during updates.

If your device does not meet the system requirements for Windows 11, it will need to be replaced. Please note that departments are responsible for providing replacement devices. ETS will be happy to provide quotes upon request.

What You Need to Do

  • Look out for scheduling communications from ETS regarding your upgrade window.
  • Save your files frequently to prepare for potential restarts.
  • Contact ETS if you have questions about device eligibility or need a replacement quote.
