Coming Soon: Real-Time Desktop Notifications

Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) is pleased to announce the launch of App Armor Desktop Alerting Pilot Program for select university-managed computer labs and computer rooms.

As part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing campus communication and safety, App Armor will provide real-time notifications, displayed on stationary devices located in participating labs and computer rooms. The alerts will mirror the notifications distributed through the App Armor mobile application, ensuring consistent messaging across multiple communication channels.

Through this pilot, ETS will evaluate the effectiveness of desktop alerting for communicating:

  • Emergency notifications (such as campus safety alerts).
  • Critical operational updates.

ETS will automatically install the application on participating university-managed devices. No action is required from faculty, staff, or students using these computers. By extending alerts beyond mobile devices, Howard University is strengthening its ability to deliver important information to our community wherever they learn, teach, and work.

Additional information regarding pilot locations and timelines will be shared in the coming weeks. If you have questions about the pilot, please contact the IT Help Desk.
