Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2022

Smartphones and computer technology are with us wherever we go, and our world is becoming increasingly shaped by cybersecurity. The Office of Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) in commemorating national Cybersecurity Awareness Month, wants to emphasize our individual and collective responsibility to our University, co-workers, friends and families in maintaining good digital citizenship.

You can greatly increase your cybersecurity awareness at work and at home by taking a few simple steps:

  •  Think Before You Click: Recognize and report phishing
  • Update Your Software
  • Use strong passwords
  • Enable multi-factor authentication

Throughout October, you will get to know the basics of cybersecurity. ETS will share important information throughout the rest of month to help you become more knowledgeable about your role in protecting our digital environment.

In partnership with Microsoft, we will also be offering training on Security Foundations on October 21, 2022 from 10AM-11AM. More information on this training and others can be found at https://technology.howard.edu/training

Find out more about our efforts to promote cybersecurity in our exclusive story published in The Dig.
