Number Matching Multi-Factor Authorization

We are continuing to enhance the security posture of the organization. On Friday, October 14, we will enable a new “Number Matching” feature as part of the Microsoft Authenticator Login MFA challenge.

What is "Number Matching?"
Number Matching is a security upgrade to traditional MFA notifications in the Microsoft Authenticator app. Instead of just hitting approve, you’ll be shown a number on your screen and prompted to enter that same number into the authenticator app challenge. You will be able to see the geographical location from where the login is being requested, and we ask that you remember to verify the location for accuracy.

In the event you do not recognize the location or request, hit "deny".

How will I be impacted by this feature?
When you respond to an MFA push notification using the Authenticator app, you'll be presented to enter a number that is shown on the device you’re logging into. You will need to type that number into the Authenticator app to complete the approval for your login access.
