Intermittent Network Outage - May 23

The University is currently experiencing intermittent interruptions in network service due to an HVAC issue and resulting overheating in the data center. Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) is working with our partners to actively restore service in affected areas of main and west campus.

If you are experiencing unstable connectivity, please contact 202-806-2020. We apologize for the inconvenience these interruptions may cause and will provide restoration updates as soon as they become available.

  • Workday HCM and Financial went live July 1st 2021. We are actively working to enhance the system to meet your needs and to implement new features within the system to improve the way you work. Over the next few months, you can expect:
    • Additional training on current Workday features
    • Improvements to current Workday features
    • Releases and new workday feature releases

VPN Update to Faculty and Staff

Dear Howard University Employees,

We are writing to provide information on the new way employees will be able to access the University’s IT network through VPN. As with all networked services, and in alignment with the University’s hardened security strategy, VPN services are currently available to the members of the campus community whose devices have been whitelisted.

Your device was whitelisted if:
a. You recently received a new laptop from ETS; or
b. Your computer was reimaged by a member of the ETS team.

Blackboard Learn - Service Interruption

On Thursday, June 11th, 2021, between the hours of 2AM – 6AM EDT, Blackboard will be upgrading its hosting facilities and service will be impacted. Users will not be able to access this application during this window for up to 2 hours as a result of the work being performed. If you have trouble logging onto the HU network or VPN, please contact the ETS Help Desk at helpdesk@howard.edu.
